Google began rolling out AI-powered information agents in Search for AI Ultra subscribers across all AI Mode languages and markets Tuesday, allowing the agents to monitor topics and send detailed updates.
Robby Stein, Google Search’s Vice President of Product, announced the global availability on X, stating that access to the feature will expand to more users later this summer.
The information agents operate by continuously monitoring specified topics in the background and subsequently delivering comprehensive updates directly to subscribers.
These agents gather information from a wide array of online sources, including news websites, blogs and social media posts, according to Google.
They also integrate Google’s real-time data capabilities across various domains such as finance, shopping and sports, providing up-to-date information.
The initial launch is exclusively for AI Ultra subscribers, a deviation from previous announcements at Google I/O, which indicated that AI Pro subscribers would also gain access.
Google has not yet provided a specific timeline for when AI Pro subscribers or a broader user base might receive the new information agent feature.
Industry observers suggested that this feature could redefine user engagement with search engines, making information acquisition more passive and automated for subscribers.
