Google Search Console’s Page indexing report has experienced recurring data delays, causing confusion among users seeking timely website performance insights.
These persistent delays, observed in late 2025, summer 2026, and October 2026, have led to uncertainty regarding the actual indexing status of web pages, according to online communities and industry observers.
John Mueller, a Google search advocate, confirmed that delays often affect only the reporting interface and not the underlying crawling, indexing or ranking processes. Mueller advised users to consult the Performance report for earlier indications of indexing changes.
Google prioritizes faster updates in areas that provide more direct benefits to users, Mueller stated in a discussion on Reddit. This prioritization can contribute to varying update speeds across different Search Console reports.
The company’s official documentation acknowledges potential delays in data availability within Search Console but does not specify a regular refresh schedule for the Page indexing report. This lack of a defined timeline leaves users without clear expectations for data updates.
Roger Montti, an industry analyst, highlighted the ongoing nature of these reporting discrepancies, noting that users frequently express concerns about the accuracy and timeliness of the data presented.
Google’s Data anomalies page in Search Console records known issues, including logging errors and the cessation of FAQ rich results. However, this page does not consistently provide real-time updates on delays specifically impacting the Page indexing report.
The absence of immediate communication on these report delays contributes to user frustration, as webmasters rely on accurate and current data to make informed decisions about their site optimization strategies.
Users are often left to infer the status of their site’s indexing based on other reports or external tools, rather than receiving direct confirmation from the Page indexing report itself.
