Google launched a preview of its Connected Apps Platform on Oct. 28, 2026, allowing developers to integrate their services directly into Google Search, the Gemini application, or both.

The global initiative aims to transform Google’s core products into environments where users can complete tasks like ordering groceries or creating playlists without leaving the Google ecosystem.

Developers can integrate their services using either a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android MCP with AppFunctions APIs, according to Google. Following integration, developers register, test, and submit their applications through the Google Connected Console.

Google reported that more than 50 Connected Apps are already operational across Search and Gemini. Companies such as Adobe, Experian, Localiza, and Peloton are active within Gemini and are expected to extend their integrations to Search soon.

Chips Mistry, a Google spokesperson, said the platform provides a unified approach for third-party integrations, simplifying the development process for companies looking to reach users across Google’s services.

Mai Lowe, another Google representative, stated that the phased rollout of the platform would see new developers, markets, and Google products added in the coming months, indicating a gradual expansion of its capabilities and reach.

The platform represents a significant expansion of Google’s third-party integration capabilities, moving beyond traditional search results to enable direct task completion within its applications.
