MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Google will launch its Chrome auto-browse feature, an operating system-level AI agent, on Android phones in the U.S. by late June 2026, fundamentally altering user interaction with the web.
This integration marks a significant shift in how businesses gain visibility, moving from traditional web citations to direct transactional capabilities facilitated by the AI agent.
The agentic browsing feature will be integrated directly into the Android operating system rather than as a separate application or an opt-in feature, making it available by default on new devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10.
This OS-level integration grants the AI agent system-wide permissions, including access to password managers and contact information, enabling it to complete multi-step tasks and transactions on behalf of the user.
The underlying API, AppFunctions, which facilitates communication between the AI agent and various applications, is projected to be available on more than 200 million Android devices by the close of 2026.
Auto-browse leverages the multimodal capabilities of Gemini 3 to interpret web pages, populate forms, complete complex online workflows, and finalize transactions, according to Google.
Early applications for the feature include scheduling appointments, comparing product prices across different vendors, and renewing licenses.
The service will be accessible through two subscription tiers: Google AI Pro, priced at $19.99 per month for 20 tasks daily, and AI Ultra, costing $249.99 per month for 200 tasks daily.
Google stated that the auto-browse feature will pause for explicit user confirmation before completing purchases or posting on social media platforms.
The company has been developing this technology to streamline digital interactions, aiming to reduce the number of steps users need to take for common online activities.
