Google updated its crawl budget optimization guide, providing clearer insights for content creators to improve search engine optimization, the technology company announced.
The revisions, which include a new section, replaced general descriptions with more specific language and refined sentence structures, according to Google.
Google stated the documentation now offers a blueprint for content creators to enhance the precision, clarity and overall user comprehension of their material.
The company improved precision by changing phrases such as ‘responds quickly for a while’ to ‘responds consistently and its response times… remain stable or improve.’ Similarly, ‘server errors’ was updated to ‘5xx HTTP status codes or HTTP 429’ for greater specificity.
Explanations of why Google’s crawler performs certain actions were removed and replaced with descriptions of the direct effect, a change aimed at making the documentation more concise and useful.
Improvements in sentence construction were implemented to eliminate what Google termed ‘comprehension road bumps.’ These issues often arose from anthropomorphizing crawlers or introducing conflicting ideas within a single sentence, hindering readability for human and artificial intelligence readers.
The updated guide emphasizes the importance of direct and unambiguous language in technical documentation and SEO content, according to Google.
Content creators can apply these principles to their work by focusing on concrete details, eliminating unnecessary explanations and ensuring logical flow within sentences.
