TikTok introduced new impression share metrics for Search Ads campaigns and curated Keyword Packs to its Keyword Suggestion Tool on Thursday, aiming to enhance advertiser performance and campaign optimization.

The updates, part of TikTok’s fourth quarter 2026 Product Preview, provide advertisers with deeper insights into their ad visibility and offer machine learning-driven keyword recommendations.

Two new metrics, ‘Impression Share‘ and ‘Top 1 Impression Share’, will be available for Search Ads. Impression Share measures the percentage of eligible search results impressions an ad campaign captures, while Top 1 Impression Share specifically tracks impressions in the first position.

TikTok provided troubleshooting guidance for advertisers experiencing low impression shares. Recommendations included increasing budget, adjusting bids, reviewing keyword lists for relevance, and ensuring creative assets and landing pages were pertinent to the search query, according to a company statement.

The platform’s Keyword Suggestion Tool will also now recommend ‘Keyword Packs’. These are ready-made, curated groups of keywords designed to align with specific brands and categories, simplifying the keyword research process for advertisers.

Samuel Boivin, a product manager at Shutterstock, emphasized the importance of these new tools. Boivin said the ability to quickly identify and utilize relevant keyword groups could significantly streamline campaign setup and improve targeting efficiency for advertisers.

These Keyword Packs are refreshed daily, utilizing TikTok’s machine learning models to analyze metrics such as search volume, cost-per-click (CPC), and competition, ensuring the suggestions remain current and effective.

Brooke Osmundson, a digital advertising strategist, noted the introduction of impression share metrics brought TikTok’s ad platform closer to industry standards seen on other major search advertising platforms. Osmundson stated these metrics were important for advertisers to understand their competitive standing and optimize their spend effectively.

The enhancements underscore TikTok’s ongoing efforts to build its advertising ecosystem, providing more sophisticated tools for businesses to reach its global audience.
