Google has not announced plans to provide specific click and query data for its artificial intelligence search features in Search Console, despite a looming United Kingdom regulatory deadline.

The lack of specific metrics for AI Mode and AI Overviews comes as the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) requires Google to offer publishers clear data, including impressions, clicks, and click-through rates, for AI search functions by December 3.

Gary Illyes, a Google Search advocate, stated that the team was “super interested in giving more data” but had nothing to announce yet regarding Search Console data for AI features.

Currently, the Search Console Generative AI Performance Report aggregates impressions for both AI Mode and AI Overviews. However, clicks from these AI features are included within the standard Performance report alongside all other web results, making it difficult to segregate them.

SEO professional Rajeev Lekhwar attributed a quote to unnamed Google staff, indicating high demand for click and query data related to AI features, though Illyes did not confirm this specific statement.

John Mueller, another Google Search advocate, noted that there was “lots of helpful data which isn’t currently in Search Console” and that the definition of what constitutes helpful data continually evolves.

The CMA’s mandate aims to ensure transparency for publishers regarding how their content performs within Google’s AI-powered search environment.
