NEW YORK — Microsoft announced four new AI-powered features for Bing Webmaster Tools at SEO Week in New York in late April 2026, aiming to provide website administrators with enhanced visibility metrics and optimization recommendations for AI search results.

The updates to the AI Performance dashboard are designed to help sites better understand and improve their presence within AI-generated content and search experiences, according to statements made at the industry event.

Among the planned additions is a feature called ‘Citation Share,’ which will measure a website’s percentage of citations for specific search queries, moving beyond simply tracking raw citation volume. This metric is intended to offer a more nuanced understanding of a site’s influence in AI-generated responses.

Microsoft also plans to introduce ‘Intent and Thematic labels,’ which will categorize user queries into 15 predefined intent categories, such as ‘Learning’ or ‘Informational Search,’ alongside various thematic subjects. This classification system aims to facilitate trend analysis and content strategy development for webmasters.

Additionally, ‘GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) recommendations’ will offer specific optimization advice tailored for AI-generated results. These recommendations will cover aspects such as content structure, indexing signals, and structured data implementation.

Krishna Madhavan, a representative for Microsoft AI and Bing, presented the new features during the New York conference. Madhavan indicated that these tools represent Microsoft’s commitment to supporting web publishers in the evolving world of AI-driven search.

None of the newly announced features are currently available to users, and Microsoft has not yet released official documentation or specific deployment dates. The company has not provided a timeline for when these tools will become live for Bing Webmaster Tools users.

The enhancements signal Microsoft’s focus on integrating advanced artificial intelligence capabilities directly into its webmaster utilities, providing site owners with more sophisticated analytics to understand the complexities of modern search engines.
