Google launched its fourth global spam update of 2026 on September 24, which is expected to impact search rankings and traffic for up to two weeks.
The update, which began at 9:15 a.m. PDT, is designed to enhance Google‘s automated systems for detecting and mitigating search spam across all languages.
This latest rollout follows three previous spam updates implemented earlier in the year, occurring in March, June, and August.
Google stated the update would apply globally and could take up to two weeks to fully propagate across its systems.
The company advised website owners experiencing significant changes in ranking or traffic during this period to review Google’s published spam policies.
Additionally, Google recommended that site administrators monitor their Search Console data for insights into potential impacts.
Spam updates are a regular part of Google’s efforts to maintain the quality and relevance of its search results, according to information released by the company.
