Microsoft is globally rolling out four new features to the Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance dashboard preview, enhancing how publishers analyze content citations by artificial intelligence.
The new additions, which include Citation Share, Intents, Topics, and Compare, aim to provide webmasters with more comprehensive insights into how their content is utilized by AI-powered search answers.
Citation Share offers a metric displaying a site’s percentage of all citations for a specific grounding query, according to Microsoft. This allows publishers to gauge their content’s prominence against competitors within AI responses.
The Intents feature classifies grounding queries into categories such as Informational, Commercial, and Research. This classification helps publishers understand the types of AI interactions that cite their content, providing context on user intent.
Topics groups related queries into thematic clusters, simplifying the identification of patterns in AI citation activity. This aggregation can help webmasters pinpoint broader areas where their content is frequently referenced by AI.
Additionally, the Compare feature enables users to overlay a previous time period on the current view. This functionality allows for direct tracking of changes and trends in citation activity over time, Microsoft said.
These features build upon the AI Performance dashboard, which Microsoft launched in February to show how often Copilot and Bing AI answers cite content from various websites.
Recommendations focused on geographical data, which were previously previewed at SEO Week, are not part of this current global rollout, the company stated.
The updates underscore Bing’s ongoing efforts to provide webmasters with tools to understand and optimize their content for AI search environments, a growing area of focus for search engines like Google and Bing.
