Baidu launched a new AI Traffic Analysis section within its webmaster tools on Sept. 16, 2026, providing visibility into AI citation performance for content creators in China.
The updated dashboard offers webmasters a first-party data source for understanding how their content is utilized in AI-generated answers within Baidu’s traditional search results, a significant development in the Chinese search engine optimization (SEO) market.
Four key metrics have been introduced: AI Citations, AI Impressions, AI Clicks and AI CTR, which is calculated as clicks divided by citations. These metrics specifically track content cited in AI answers presented directly within Baidu’s main search interface.
According to Baidu, the data does not encompass standalone AI products like Doubao, DeepSeek, Qwen/Quark or Kimi, nor does it include other Chinese AI platforms.
Industry observers highlighted the keyword table as the most valuable new feature. This table displays specific search queries that trigger AI answers which, in turn, cite a webmaster’s content, offering insights for SEO professionals.
The introduction of this tool signals renewed attention from Baidu towards its webmaster platform, providing transparency into an important aspect of search visibility.
Webmasters can now track the direct impact of their content on AI answer generation, enabling them to refine strategies for improved exposure within Baidu’s search ecosystem.
The move by Baidu provides an advantage to its users by offering proprietary data not available from other sources, which could influence how content is optimized for AI search in China.
