Anthropic relaunched its Claude Fable 5 artificial intelligence model globally on July 1, following approval from the United States government and the implementation of new security measures and usage limits.
The return of Fable 5, previously suspended, aims to balance advanced AI capabilities with enhanced user safety and controlled access, the company said.
A new classifier has been integrated into the model to address a vulnerability that Amazon previously reported. Anthropic stated that this safeguard is designed to block 99 percent of malicious prompt attempts.
Users whose requests are flagged and blocked by Fable 5’s security protocols will receive notifications and their requests will be automatically rerouted to the Opus 4.8 model.
Access to Fable 5 will be subject to weekly usage limits, initially capped at up to 50 percent of its full capacity through July 7. After this initial period, access will transition to a usage credit pricing structure.
Anthropic also confirmed that access to its Mythos 5 model has been restored for a select group of U.S. organizations. The company plans to expand this access to additional domestic and international partners involved in its Glasswing program.
The relaunch signifies an effort by Anthropic to integrate feedback and bolster the security framework of its leading AI model. Howard Lutnick, an executive associated with the project, has previously emphasized the importance of secure AI deployment.
The United States government’s approval precedes the global rollout, indicating regulatory oversight in the deployment of advanced AI technologies. Companies like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry often host and utilize such models.
The temporary suspension and subsequent relaunch highlight the ongoing challenges and commitments within the AI industry to develop powerful yet secure and responsible artificial intelligence systems.
