A new Chrome extension helps SEO professionals more efficiently check page indexing and discoverability by automating content verification through leading AI chatbots.
The ‘Exactly Matchy’ extension streamlines the process of determining if a website’s content is discoverable and attributed by prompting AI chatbots with specific text snippets, addressing limitations of traditional search engine optimization methods.
Traditional SEO techniques, such as using the ‘site:’ operator or exact text searches, have become less effective for verifying content indexing in the AI-powered search realm, according to industry observers.
Chris Green, a developer involved with the extension, explained that AI chatbots with integrated search capabilities, including those from Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, can be prompted with precise text to confirm a URL’s content is accessible.
If a page’s content is not returned by an AI chatbot search, it can signal potential issues with the page’s discoverability, accessibility, fetchability, crawlability, or indexability, Green said in a statement.
The ‘Exactly Matchy’ extension automates this workflow by extracting distinctive text passages from a webpage. It then generates one-click, exact-match retrieval prompts tailored for various AI chatbot platforms.
The extension utilizes Chrome’s on-device large language model (LLM) to rank candidate passages for extraction, ensuring that privacy is maintained through local processing. This method avoids the need for external third-party API calls, according to its developers.
This approach offers a modern solution for SEO practitioners to adapt their indexing verification strategies to the increasing prevalence of AI in search functionalities.
