WP Rocket launched a free content delivery network (CDN) service within its plugin, allowing users to serve content from geographically distributed servers for up to three high-priority web pages.
The new feature, introduced in WP Rocket version 3.22, aims to provide targeted performance enhancements for critical website sections, streamlining the process for site owners seeking faster load times.
The integrated CDN service is powered by RocketCDN, WP Rocket’s proprietary technology built upon the Bunny.net network infrastructure, which allows for efficient content delivery by caching assets closer to end-users globally.
WP Rocket stated that the free tier is specifically designed for high-value pages, recommending its use for homepages, pricing pages, or crucial landing pages where performance significantly impacts user experience and conversion rates.
The company also indicated that the free CDN integrates with Rocket Insights, its performance monitoring tool, allowing users to identify pages needing optimization, apply the CDN service, and subsequently measure the performance improvements within a unified workflow.
While the free CDN is limited to three pages, it offers a direct solution for website administrators looking to boost the speed of their most vital content without additional external services or complex configurations, according to WP Rocket.
The initiative reflects a growing trend among WordPress plugin developers to incorporate performance-enhancing features directly into their offerings, simplifying web optimization for a broader user base.
