Google reduced the follower requirement for its Search profiles to 10,000 across major social media platforms, significantly expanding eligibility for content creators and media organizations in the United States.
The move, announced by Google, also introduced a multi-brand login feature for media companies and optimized article display within the profiles, streamlining management and enhancing content presentation.
Previously, creators needed 100,000 followers on YouTube, Instagram, or X, or 300,000 on TikTok to qualify for a Search profile, according to Google.
This marks the third adjustment to the follower threshold in 15 weeks since Search profiles launched in June, indicating Google’s efforts to refine the program’s accessibility.
Ibrahim Badr, a Google product manager, stated that the update aims to make Search profiles available to a broader range of creators and publishers.
The multi-brand login functionality allows media companies to manage multiple Search profiles for their various sub-brands from a single account, simplifying their digital presence.
Robby Stein, a director of product management at Google, said the new feature was a direct response to feedback from larger media organizations.
Additionally, articles displayed on Search profiles now feature longer headlines and optimized image thumbnails, designed to improve user engagement and content visibility.
Search profiles remain exclusively available in the United States, with Google not yet announcing plans for international expansion.
The initiative allows creators and brands to consolidate their online presence and directly share content updates within Google Search results.
