Google began deploying its June 2026 Spam Update for Google Search this week, an anti-spam algorithm update designed to improve the quality of search results by targeting manipulative content.
The global rollout is expected to take several days to complete across all languages and regions, the company said.
Spam updates specifically address website practices such as mass-generated content, low-quality articles, duplicate content, and deceptive redirects, Google said in a statement.
This latest update follows a previous anti-spam release in March 2026, marking another effort by the tech giant to refine its search engine algorithms.
Unlike broader Core Updates, which reassess content quality, relevance, and user satisfaction more generally, spam updates are narrowly focused on identifying and penalizing manipulative tactics.
Google advises website owners whose sites may be affected by a Spam Update to review its published spam policies and implement necessary modifications.
However, the company noted that changes made to address spam links might not immediately restore any lost ranking benefits.
The search engine continually updates its algorithms to combat evolving spam techniques and ensure users receive relevant and high-quality information.
