MOUNTAIN VIEW, California — Google is recruiting a Director-level user experience professional to redefine its Discover platform as a proactive, hyper-personalized artificial intelligence-powered assistant, according to a recent job posting.

The strategic hiring move signals Google’s intent to evolve Discover beyond content aggregation into a more integrated and intelligent concierge service, leveraging advanced AI capabilities.

The role, titled ‘Principal, UX, Search Discover,’ will focus on integrating AI-generated formats at scale and unifying personalization across Google’s various products, including YouTube, Shopping, Chrome, and Android, the company stated in the job description.

Google aims for the redesigned Discover to move users seamlessly from inspiration to action, potentially encompassing commercial activities. The initiative also targets younger audiences, according to the job posting.

The company emphasized the need to balance AI capabilities with human voices and sources. Google seeks a candidate who can build ‘value exchanges’ with creators and publishers, the job description indicated.

The position, which can be based in Mountain View, California, or New York, offers an annual salary range of $275,000 to $382,000 in the United States, alongside a target bonus of 30 percent and stock options.

Industry observers like Damien Andell have noted that such a transformation could position Google Discover to compete more directly with personalized content feeds from platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

The recruitment effort underscores Google’s broader strategy to embed AI more deeply into its core products, enhancing user engagement through more predictive and tailored experiences.
