Google’s AI Overviews appeared in 87 percent of commercial, buying-intent search queries, significantly higher than general keyword studies, according to a new analysis released by Peec AI.
The prevalence of AI Overviews in high-intent searches means they are often the first information buyers encounter, potentially influencing brand perception and purchasing decisions, Peec AI reported.
The analysis, which examined approximately 500,000 commercial prompts, found that for decision-stage queries, such as comparing products, AI Overviews appeared in 88.5 percent of results.
Longer search prompts, specifically those between 11 and 15 words, triggered AI Overviews more frequently, peaking near 89 percent, compared to two-word queries which showed a 64.6 percent appearance rate.
Peec AI noted that its 87 percent figure for commercial queries significantly surpasses findings from broader keyword studies, which typically report AI Overview presence around 20.5 percent (Ahrefs) or 30 percent for general samples.
The difference stems from Peec AI’s focused methodology, which specifically targeted high-intent commercial queries and excluded navigational searches, according to the organization.
Geographic variations in AI Overview presence were also observed, with 90.3 percent outside the European Union compared to 76 percent within the EU. France showed a 0 percent appearance rate, as the feature has not yet launched there, Peec AI reported.
Google’s AI Mode, which recently surpassed 1 billion monthly users, is now linking to AI Overviews to facilitate follow-up questions directly within the search interface, the company said.
