PARIS — Develink, a French specialist connecting advertisers and publishers, released a new white paper detailing a data-driven methodology for optimizing netlinking budgets and strategies across various competitive sectors on April 30, 2024.

The report challenged traditional intuition-based approaches to search engine optimization (SEO) by providing a framework for strategic budget allocation based on comprehensive data analysis.

The white paper, developed by the company with 10 years of experience in digital marketing, analyzed 10 real competitive sectors. It utilized a proprietary ‘Develscore’ indicator, which aggregated data from prominent SEO tools such as Majestic, Ahrefs, and Semrush, to offer granular insights into market dynamics.

According to Develink, the study revealed that netlinking budget inefficiencies often occurred at the individual URL level rather than the broader domain level. It also highlighted significant budget asymmetry across different keywords within the same sector, indicating misallocation of resources.

The report identified common issues like keyword cannibalization, where two URLs from the same website competed for ranking on the same search query. Develink outlined specific strategies within the white paper to address and mitigate such inefficiencies, aiming to improve overall search visibility and return on investment.

Develink also advised businesses to prioritize keywords that were not yet heavily influenced by Google‘s AI Overview feature. The company emphasized the importance of optimizing content specifically for AI citation, moving beyond the traditional goal of achieving only organic first-position rankings.

To support the findings, the white paper included a case study involving Crédit Mutuel, a French banking group, illustrating practical applications of its methodologies.

Develink is offering a complimentary competitive and financial analysis to readers of the French digital marketing publication Abondance. This offer is valid until Oct. 31, 2026, and can be accessed using the code ABENCHMARK.
