OpenAI’s ChatGPT Ads platform achieved an annualized revenue run rate of $1 billion within 200 days, expanding its self-service access to more than 40 countries globally.

The rapid growth shows the platform’s success in diversifying OpenAI‘s business model, which now includes tens of thousands of active advertisers across various regions.

Self-service advertising access through Ads Manager recently expanded to India, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, according to OpenAI.

OpenAI emphasized its commitment to transparency, stating that all advertisements are clearly identified and kept separate from ChatGPT responses. The company also confirmed that ads do not influence generated content and do not access users’ private conversations.

The advertising model represents a key component of OpenAI’s broader strategy, which also encompasses consumer subscriptions, enterprise solutions and API usage. This multi-faceted approach supports free access to ChatGPT for more than 1 billion weekly active users, the company said.

The platform has developed sophisticated advertising tools, including CPC and optimized bidding, conversion tracking pixels, product feeds and custom audiences, which have reportedly delivered strong returns on investment for advertisers.

OpenAI has continued to integrate advanced features designed to enhance advertiser performance and user experience.

The global expansion and revenue milestones highlight the increasing adoption of AI-powered advertising solutions.
