YouTube expanded its artificial intelligence creation tools with new conversational search and video remixing capabilities, the Google-owned company announced Tuesday, aiming to enhance content discovery and production while prioritizing creator safeguards.

The updates include a feature called “Ask YouTube,” which allows users to search for content using detailed questions rather than traditional keywords, and the integration of Gemini Omni into its Shorts Remix and YouTube Create app for advanced video generation and editing.

“Ask YouTube” is currently available to Premium members 18 and older in the United States, offering a more intuitive way for users to find videos by engaging in a conversational discovery experience, according to YouTube.

The integration of Gemini Omni into YouTube Shorts Remix and the YouTube Create app enables creators to generate new video variations from prompts and images. This feature also facilitates advanced editing functions, rolling out now at no cost.

YouTube emphasized that its AI tools are designed to support creator participation rather than fully automate content generation. The company introduced several protections, including digital watermarks, metadata labeling and opt-out controls for creators.

The platform also expanded its likeness detection features to help protect creators from unauthorized AI-generated content.

These updates suggest a strategic shift toward more conversational content discovery, which could impact how creators, marketers and advertisers optimize their content for the platform, industry analysts noted.

Google, YouTube’s parent company, has been steadily integrating its Gemini AI models across its product ecosystem, with YouTube being a key platform for these advancements.
