Yoast SEO 28.4 Update Enhances Bulk Editing, AI Metadata Tools

Yoast SEO released its 28.4 update, introducing new features designed to streamline bulk content optimization and enhance artificial intelligence-driven metadata generation for users.

The update focuses on improving efficiency and accuracy within the platform’s tools, allowing content creators and site administrators to manage and refine their search engine optimization efforts more effectively.

A notable addition to the Bulk Editor is the expansion of the Filters dropdown, which now includes “needs improvement” options for SEO titles, meta descriptions, social titles, and social descriptions. This functionality enables users to quickly identify and address suboptimal fields across multiple posts.

New quality-based selections in the Bulk Editor‘s Select menu also allow users to choose all posts on a page that require improvement with a single click, according to Yoast. This feature aims to accelerate the identification and correction of content needing attention.

The Bulk Editor also received a Shift+click functionality, enabling users to select a range of rows simultaneously. This enhancement provides a more intuitive and faster method for managing multiple entries.

Yoast stated that the Bulk Editor now flags generated posts with limited content following an AI generation run. This indicator helps users quickly pinpoint AI suggestions that may require further review or manual adjustment.

Users can now initiate bulk editing directly from standard post, page, or product overview screens. A new “Bulk edit” option has been integrated into the bulk actions dropdown, simplifying the workflow for content management.

The Yoast AI feature has been updated to offer an option to connect to MyYoast from error messages if a site is unreachable, such as when it is behind a firewall. Yoast said this ensures AI functionality on more complex hosting setups and is being rolled out gradually.
