Screaming Frog released its SEO Spider 24.0 update, codenamed “bolus,” integrating AI control through an MCP server and significantly enhancing automation features for SEO analysis workflows.

The company announced the update, which aims to streamline complex SEO tasks by allowing interaction with AI assistants such as Claude and LM Studio, alongside new capabilities for automated crawl comparisons and issue detection.

Automatic crawl comparison for scheduled and command-line interface (CLI) crawls was introduced in version 24.0, summarizing detected changes and delivering them via email notifications, according to Screaming Frog.

The software now includes new features to detect “uncrawlable” links, which identify linking practices that do not comply with recommendations from Google, helping users pinpoint non-standard or problematic link structures.

Email notifications have been expanded to include summary tables detailing detected issues and comparison data, with the update also enabling automated export attachments within these notifications, further automating reporting processes.

Screaming Frog stated that the new version provides real-time validation for AI models, ensuring accuracy and reliability in AI-driven analyses for maintaining data integrity in automated SEO audits.

The company also confirmed support for Java 25, reflecting an ongoing commitment to modern development standards, and introduced new Linux Arm64 packages, expanding the software’s compatibility across different operating environments.

Industry experts, including those at Ahrefs, frequently emphasize the importance of crawling and link analysis tools in SEO, and Screaming Frog’s latest update addresses these needs by incorporating advanced technologies.

The integration of AI aims to provide more sophisticated insights and reduce manual effort in identifying and rectifying SEO issues, according to the software developer.
