Google reduced the follower requirement for its Search Profiles feature from 100,000 to 10,000 across major social platforms, making the tool more accessible for online creators and businesses effective September 16, 2026.

The change broadens eligibility for individuals and brands to consolidate their digital presence on a dedicated Google page and increase visibility within Google Discover feeds.

Search Profiles aggregate content from various social media accounts, videos, articles, and other web links onto a single Google page, which appears when users search for a specific name or identifier, according to Google.

Users who follow a profile may see its associated content appear more frequently in their personalized Google Discover feeds, a spokesperson for the company said.

The updated eligibility criteria apply to follower counts on YouTube, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or TikTok, Google confirmed.

Damien Andell, a Google product manager, stated the move aims to empower a wider range of creators to manage their online identity directly within Google Search. Robby Stein, another Google executive, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing expanded access.

While official profile creation is currently limited to the United States, users in other regions, such as France, have reportedly accessed the feature using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), according to Fabien Raquidel and Romain Pirotte of the French digital marketing agency Abondance.

Google also introduced the ability for a single Google account to manage multiple Search Profiles, allowing users to maintain separate personal and brand presences, a feature requested by many creators, Google said.

The expansion of Search Profiles is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to enhance search personalization and provide creators with more tools to connect with their audiences.
