Global marketers are increasingly using artificial intelligence and creator content insights to address inefficiencies in brand safety protocols and content messaging, unlocking inventory and improving campaign performance.
These advancements challenge traditional strategies in video advertising and influencer marketing, where conventional approaches often lead to unnecessary content blocking and reduced audience engagement, according to recent industry reports.
A second-quarter 2026 report from the IAB indicated that 54 percent of video URLs are unnecessarily blocked by keyword-based brand safety measures, effectively rendering news inventory invisible to advertisers.
Multimodal AI, which analyzes video, audio, speech and images, can determine content tone and intent, overcoming the limitations of older keyword-based blocking systems, the IAB reported.
Jamie Finstein of the IAB advised media buyers to review and update their exclusion lists in light of multimodal AI capabilities, especially during high-attention periods such as election cycles.
Publishers can improve content monetization by providing clear metadata and transcripts to help contextual AI correctly classify their video content, Finstein said.
Separately, a report by Billion Dollar Boy and DAIVID found that leading with direct brand messaging in the opening seconds of creator content significantly reduces viewer engagement.
The report revealed that this approach drops view rates by 44 percent and brand favorability by 12 percent.
Conversely, creator content that focuses on demonstration and authentic explanation outperforms declarative messaging, increasing brand favorability by 33 percent and consideration by 15 percent, the study found.
The optimal emotional register for content also varies by vertical, according to the Billion Dollar Boy and DAIVID report. For example, anxiety can enhance engagement for beauty and food content but negatively impacts entertainment content.
